Kia tipu ngãtahi Growing together

The Rose Centre is a community based (not for profit) preschool with all fees directly benefiting your child's education.  We strive to keep fees affordable for families; employ qualified early childhood teachers; and operate with small group sizes.  Our centre embodies a strong community spirit with our whãnau involved in a Preschool Parent Sub-committee.  We foster a strong link between tamariki, kaiako, whanau, kura, hapori and The Rose Centre Board, theatre and community rooms.  The Rose Centre Community Preschool has a strong connection to Belmont Primary School to which we are adjacent to, which ensures a smooth transition for children’s continuing education.

The Rose Centre Preschool demonstrates a commitment to the unique dual heritage of Aotearoa and Te Tiriti o’ Waitangi partnership.   We provide an inclusive environment irrespective of race, gender, culture or ability. As a mixed age centre, we promote tuakana/teina practice.

We believe the wider world of family and community play an integral part in your child’s learning and development.    Working within Te Whãriki ECE Curriculum, we respond to children's dispositional working theories to enhance cognitive, creative and physical skills.   We provide an inclusive language rich environment where tamariki are able to explore the outdoor and indoor environment, build creative minds, explore their ideas and be challenged.  We create play-provoking environments, in response to our children’s interests and include children in decision making to select activities. We see tamariki as vibrant, confident and capable learners and aim to nurture them as such.

Kaiako implement positive guidance and behaviour management strategies; this is assisted through team understanding and communication, to develop children's understanding of natural and logical consequences, aid in problem-solving skills, assist children to resolve conflicts, and to develop autonomy.

We value early childhood education as a foundation for lifelong learning and believe in empowering children to become healthy in mind, body and spirit, secure in their sense of belonging and in the knowledge that they make a valued contribution to society.
